National Postdoc Appreciation Week – NPAW 2025
National Postdoc Appreciation Week is coming up! This is the most jam-packed week of fun for postdocs all year!!!!! Every year in the 3rd week of September, Universities across the United States take part in the National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW). Here at Stanford, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) and Stanford University Postdoctoral Association (SURPAS) host a variety of events to celebrate the 2400+ postdocs who make Stanford what it is!

NPAW: SURPAS Ice Cream Social with SCPA
Come for some ice cream and meet the Stanford Chinese Postdoc Association (SCPA)

NPAW: SURPAS Happy Hour
Join us for an evening at the Treehouse! The first 150 postdocs to RSVP will be guaranteed a free drink (choice of beer/margarita/soda) and a taco/pizza! It’s a first-come, first-served event.

Wednesday 9/17
NPAW: Dish Hike with SURPAS
For postdoc appreciation week, we will do our local Stanford Dish trail. This trail is a 3.6-mile (5.8km) loop hike with 452 feet (137.7m) of elevation on the pavement. This trail includes beautiful views of the bay.
Where: The Dish trail- Stanford Avenue: https://goo.gl/maps/f3VnRCGV1HCqASLo9 – We will meet at the trailhead at 5:00pm. We will try to set up some carpools for those needing a ride, but you can also take a shuttle to get there.

NPAW: National Postdoc Appreciation Week BBQ
Come celebrate National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) with this Fall Festival and BBQ! OPA will be offering a delicious Famous Dave’s BBQ meal (vegetarian options also available), and SURPAS will be providing beverages.
There will be food, drinks, and a live band for everyone to enjoy!
Come join in on the fun, bring your family, and enjoy an evening out!
**Open to all postdocs; pre-registration is required, no walk-ins or day-of registration permitted, guests limited to one adult per postdoc**

NPAW: Badminton with SURPAS Sports CommitteeEnd National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) with us by smashing birdies and making new friends with SURPAS and the Sports Committee! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or trying badminton for the first time, this event is the perfect opportunity to discover the fun of badminton, enjoy a friendly game, and stay active.**First 48 people who RSVP for the tournament will receive a slot, but to watch, feel free to RSVP as an audience member!**
