“How did we get here?” Seminar Series

The “How did we get here?” Seminar Series will highlight and showcase the diverse pathways that we have all taken to become postdocs at Stanford. We are especially interested in the stories that don’t often get told. This is a fantastic way to share your learnings, empower others, and connect with fellow postdocs!

These stories can include, but are not limited to:

  • What struggles have you faced that have shaped your outlook and career trajectory?
  • In what ways have mentorship and collaboration shaped your path?
  • How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance in the demanding field of science?
  • How have you dealt with failure and rejection throughout your career, and what lessons have you learned?
  • How have you contributed to diversity and inclusion initiatives in STEM? Do you feel that your identities are represented in your field?
  • What soft skills have you found to be most valuable in your scientific career, and how have you developed them?
  • What advice do you have for other postdocs?
  • What are your hopes for the future of research? How can we reach that goal?
  • These questions are designed to inspire reflections and conversations about the unique, often untold stories of navigating into postdoctoral life and beyond.
